Special Squares

Imagine being able to freeze your opponents in chess or even take another move immediately. In the chess variations of the ChessMissions App, that’s exactly possible. Special squares are scattered across the board, giving your piece certain abilities for one turn. To win the game, you should incorporate these squares into your tactics and use them strategically!

In the app, you will encounter the following special squares:

  • Freeze Squares: When you move onto one of these squares, all opponents around the square are frozen for one turn. That means those pieces cannot move on their next turn.
  • Double-Move Squares: If you move onto this square, you can move the same piece again immediately.
  • Queen Squares: From this square, any piece can move once like a queen. This is especially useful for moving pieces that normally move slowly quickly from A to B.
  • Invincibility Squares: On this square, your piece cannot be captured. This is particularly advantageous if you can bring your king to such a square. However, when only the king remains, you will eventually have to move it off the square…
